Romans 5:1-21
Adam sinned, and death reigned. "Therefore, just as through one man (Adam) sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned---" Romans 5:12. The end of this verse doesn't say, "All have sinned." That's the message in Romans 3:23. But here, when Adam sinned, we all sinned in him. By the disobedience of one man we were made sinners. His offense resulted in condemnation and death.
"Death reigned from Adam to Moses...." Romans 5:14. When he received the Ten Commandments from God on Mount Sinai, "the law entered that the offense might abound...." Romans 5:20. Sin continued to reign in death. It reigns in the world today through the unrighteous deeds of ungodly men and women. The reign ends in "indignation, wrath, tribulation, and anguish." Romans 2:8, 9.
Here's the good news. "But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more, so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 5:20, 21.
Grace reigns for the Christian. The reign began when Jesus was welcomed into our hearts by faith, and crowned as Lord and Savior. Grace reigns through righteousness. With Christ on the throne the fruits of righteousness are produced by Him. The reign of grace is "to eternal life."
Grace reigns through Jesus Christ our Lord. "For if by the one man's offense many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many." Grace! Romans 5:15. "For the judgment which came from the one offense resulted in condemnation, but the free gift which came from many offenses resulted in justification." Justification! Romans 5:16. "If by the one man's offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ." Grace and righteousness! Romans 5:17.

Grace + Righteousness + Eternal Life
Through Jesus Christ our Lord
"Oh, to grace how great a debtor
daily I'm constrained to be!
Let that grace now, like a fetter,
bind my yielded heart to Thee.
Let me know Thee in Thy fullness;
guide me by Thy mighty hand
Till, transformed, in Thine own image
in Thy presence I shall stand."
Father, thank You for Your abounding grace, which You have freely given to us through Your beloved Son, our Lord and Savior. Use us in proclaiming Your gift of grace and righteousness to those in need of eternal salvation. In Jesus' name. Amen!
